On 20th and 21st of November 2025, the Gaia-X community gathered in Porto for the annual Gaia-X Summit, bringing together European leaders, innovators and ecosystem partners committed to building a trustworthy and sovereign digital future for Europe. Cloud Data Engine (CDE) was pleased to take part in this key event as an active member of the Gaia-X ecosystem.
Throughout the summit, CDE engaged with public and private stakeholders to discuss the concrete implementation of data spaces, interoperability frameworks and compliance-driven digital ecosystems. At its stand, the CDE team showcased its solutions for compliance automation and data space governance, illustrating how regulatory requirements can be transformed into operational enablers for trusted data sharing across Europe.
One of the highlights of the event for CDE was the participation of its CEO, Alban Schmutz, in the roundtable discussion “Available Tools for building Data Spaces and Digital Ecosystems”. This session provided an opportunity to exchange perspectives with other ecosystem actors on the practical tools, standards and governance models required to move from vision to deployment, and to underline the importance of compliance, interoperability and trust-by-design in scalable data spaces.
The summit was also marked by an important milestone for the Gaia-X ecosystem, with CDE partner CISPE distributing the first Gaia-X Level 3 labels on stage during the session “Catalogue of Gaia-X Compliant Services on the Market”. These labels were awarded to compliant cloud services operated by Cloud Temple, Opiquad, Thésée Datacenter, OVHcloud and Seeweb, demonstrating that Gaia-X compliance is now a tangible reality for European cloud providers and that the compliance automation by CDE is concrete.
The Gaia-X Summit 2025 once again highlighted the momentum of the European cloud and data space ecosystem, as well as the growing alignment between policy objectives, standards and market-ready solutions. Cloud Data Engine is proud to contribute to this collective effort and looks forward to continuing its engagement within Gaia-X to support the development of trusted, interoperable and sovereign digital ecosystems across Europe.
